Waiting for Spring!

It's February 24 and winter is far from being over ... having these beautiful tulips help make the wait for spring somewhat tolerable.

Favorite Soup!

Andy makes the most awesome Italian Wedding Soup ... he got the inspiration from a Jamie Oliver recipe but as usual, Andy had to put his own flare on it and has adapted it a bit. He created this wonderful hearty soup this afternoon, and foodies take note: he made his own fresh pasta that you can see in the soup! This is definitely my favourite soup.

Family Day Potluck!

To celebrate Alberta's Family Day long weekend, my brother Jeff and his family (wife Silvana, son Tyler and daughter Chantelle), nephews Cam and Jordan and Jordan's girlfriend Krissy, mom and my youngest brother Scott joined our family on Sunday for a Family Day potluck. Silvana made a HUGE pot of spaghetti sauce, Andy made fresh pasta, I made ceasar salad, mom brought garlic toast, the nephews brought salsa dip & chips and some drinks, and Rachel and Tyler brought fruit salad for dessert. Dinner was followed by a rousing game of Texas Hold'em .... the girls ruled! Chantelle won the first game and Rachel the second!
Amazing Race "all stars" started tonight so of course that meant Rachel, Tyler and I settled into our positions in the family room to watch it followed by the Apprentice. Andy joined the 3 of us and did not head up to bed like he usually does, 20 min. into the program!

Valentine's Day!

Snow, Snow, Snow!

Feb 13-07: It's been snowing for the past 4 days, light, delicate snow but lots of it ... enough to make the daily commute a NIGHTMARE (in addition to slippery streets and crazy drivers, I also have to contend with ice forming on the windshield wipers that simply will not melt no matter how high high you set your defrost heat/fan). I took these photos today, Tuesday, Feb 13 - we obviously need a new thermometer as this photo doesn't show how cold it really is (-19)! The low tonight is -23 degrees celsius but the forecast predicts warmer weather is on its way ... Thursday's forecast is +7 (celsius) which will be a welcome relief from this cold snap but it also means soggy streets ... much to the delight of local carwash operators!

Visit with Danny & Gillian

Danny came home this weekend ... and introduced us to his girlfriend Gillian whom he met at University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Danny and Gillian came to church and then came over for dinner and of course, a few games of Wizard!

Sunday afternoon/evenings

Sunday afternoons are reserved for family, food and fun ... totally relaxing! After playing a friendly game of Wizard or Cribwars, we have dinner together and then usually Erin and Lyden retreat to the basement to play Ninetendo games or watch a movie, while Andy, Tyler and Rachel will settle into watching a football game, followed by 60 minutes. I sometimes will join the sport watchers or more often than not, I'll go downstairs and do a little scrapbooking, (usually returning to watch 60 minutes).

Rachel, Tyler and I would watch Amazing Race together (Andy would watch the first 10-15 minutes and then go upstairs, get ready for bed and read until I joined him). When the Amazing Race finished, we were keen to watch the Apprentice LA together but we haven't been able to do that because it starts too late at 10pm.
